Full Hotel Transylvania trailer arrives: watch now

Full Hotel Transylvania trailer arrives: watch now

Hotel Transylvania has released a fuller trailer online to the one that we've previously seen.

Adam Sandler has turned his hand to playing the cold prince of the undead in in Genndy Tartakovsky's animation, but the trailer is full of delightfully warm chuckles.

Dracula is running a hotel for monsters, myths and legends from around the world, a place where they can relax conspicuously without fear of being spotted or immortalised forever in a photograph. The place has been human-free for years, until an unlikely warm-blooded guest arrives and threatens to blow the whole charade.

The voice cast includes Kevin James as Frankenstein's monster, David Spade as The Invisible Man, hip-hop and soul artist Cee-Lo Green as The Mummy, Adam Samberg as the young human man and Selena Gomez as Dracula's daughter, with whom the human becomes besotted.

Hotel Transylvania opens on 12 October 2012 in the UK.

Jessica Chastain in talks to join Iron Man 3

Jessica Chastain in talks to join Iron Man 3

Iron Man 3 grows more promising by the day, with yet another quality actor soon to be added to an already impressive roster. Jessica Chastain is the latest star to be linked with the project, following yesterday's announcement that Guy Pearce is also on the brink of signing on.

Deadline reports that the Take Shelter star has been earmarked to play a scientist, although no further details have been confirmed. It's thought that the part in question could be Dr. Maya Hansen, one of the co-creators of the Extremis virus.

That would fit in with Pearce's potential casting as Aldrich Killian, the geneticist responsible for selling the virus to the terrorists who go on to use it to target Iron Man.

Ben Kingsley has also been cast as the film's primary villain, who will be involved in the distribution of said virus, which does its damage via the medium of nanotechnology. It just so happens that Iron Man has recently upgraded his suit with the same technology, making him more vulnerable than ever before.

Should Chastain sign on, she'll join an impressive ensemble that already contains Robert Downey Junior, Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson and the aforementioned Kingsley. Directed by Shane Black, Iron Man 3 will open on the UK on 3 May 2013.

Marvel's Kevin Feige talks future projects

Marvel's Kevin Feige talks future projects

[brightcove]1213024251001[/brightcove]

With The Avengers hitting the screen sooner than soon, Kevin Feige has revealed a few insights into future additions to the Marvel film canon.

He discussed Ant-Man, Luke Cage, Blank Panther, the Hulk and Avengers sequels at a recent Apple Store event, also attended by Mark Ruffalo. And it sounds like there's the prospect of a conveyor belt of Marvel crossovers in the coming years.

On Ant-Man, Feige revealed that "Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish have written a very good draft" and "this summer we'll see some forward momentum".  An old draft of Luke Cage is knocking around, along with a more recent working of Black Panther, and Feige would "love to bring them to the screen".

It seems Ruffalo and Feige have discussed a standalone Hulk feature, with Feige stating: "When it'll be, who knows?  But the conversation's definitely started".

Ruffalo added: "I’m gonna try and get Joss Whedon in a room and work out what could be a Hulk movie, with Kevin’s blessing of course."

But the bulk of the conversation was about the Avengers' Civil War story.  "Civil War was a great crossover story, with the superhero registration act where the government wants to force them to reveal their secret identities. Iron Man thinks it’s a good idea, Captain America disagrees, so that leads to a sort of civil war." said Feige, but he's unsure when it will hit the screens, "I certainly don’t think we’ll see that before Avengers 3, so maybe that’ll be a good number for it, who knows.”

And the prospect of a plethoric slew of Avengers goodness is sure to please any fan: "Discussions are beginning. The idea is to replicate that experience of the comics, so we’ve got these individual solo titles, then the crossovers every few years, I would love to replicate that every three or four years."  You'd better get strapped in for the ride.

Avengers Assemble opens in the UK on 26 April 2012. Yup, that soon.

Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf and Gary Oldman star in first Lawless trailer: watch now

Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf and Gary Oldman star in first Lawless trailer: watch now

Lawless had debuted an excellent first trailer, featuring Shia LaBeouf and Tom Hardy as a pair of criminal brothers who become feared outlaws in Prohibition-era America.

The film follows the exploits of the Bondurant brothers, a pair of bootleggers who find themselves threatened by the crooked Southern authorities who want a share of their profits.

The first trailer features plenty of gun-slinging action, alongside some instantly memorable supporting turns from the likes of Jessica Chastain, Gary Oldman and a demonic-looking Guy Pearce.

Take a look at the new trailer below…

It looks as though LaBeouf has finally found a project that will allow him to do more than look scared and run away, while Hardy looks as unshakeably cool as ever. Meanwhile, if there’s a more badass sight than Gary Oldman toting a Tommy gun, we’ve yet to see it.

Directed by The Road’s John Hillcoat, the film is an adaptation of the novel The Wettest Country In The World by Matt Bondurant, with none other than Nick Cave on script-writing duties. Lawless opens in the US on 31 August 2012, with a UK release date to be confirmed.

Lionsgate plan to make Chaos Walking trilogy the next Hunger Games

Lionsgate plan to make Chaos Walking trilogy the next Hunger Games

Having seen their recent adaptation of The Hunger Games score big among critics and audiences alike, Lionsgate has taken control of another ludicrously popular teenage franchise in the form of the Chaos Walking series.

Patrick Ness's futuristic trilogy follows the exploits of young Todd Hewitt, a boy living in a dystopian city presided over by the tyrannical Mayor Prentiss. Such is the mayor's megalomania, he's managed to keep his citizens in the dark to the extent that they have no knowledge that any world exists beyond the city walls.

We earmarked the series as a potential successor to the Harry Potter series in a feature about books that could be movie franchises published last year, and Lionsgate clearly feel that the property could be another big hitter at the box office.

Encouragingly, they've already got somebody in place to adapt the source material into a screenplay, and still more excitingly, that writer is none other than Charlie Kaufman, of Adaptation fame.

At this stage, he's only been hired to adapt the first book in the series, The Knife Of Never Letting Go, but should that be a success, we'd be surprised if he wasn't also offered The Ask And The Answer and Monsters Of Men.

There's no word on a production schedule as yet, but we'll be keeping an eye on this one as it develops. Next stop, finding a director. Spike Jonze, anyone?

Black Widow will not appear in Iron Man 3

Black Widow will not appear in Iron Man 3

Iron Man 3 might be adding new acting talent to its ranks left right and centre, but according to Scarlett Johansson, Black Widow will not be among the characters returning from the previous film.

The star revealed to Screen Rant that her character would not be appearing in Shane Black’s upcoming threequel, but not before revealing her desire to star in a solo Black Widow movie.

“I think that you build this kind of character in the hope that the fans are like, ‘we want more,’” says Johansson. “I personally think there’s an awesome Black Widow movie in there. A kind of Bourne film that would take the whole comic-book genre in a completely different direction. It’d be awesome.”

“I’ve spoken to Marvel about it and Kevin Feige,” she continues, “and there’s so much story to draw from, I think it’d be totally awesome. But do I want to spend another three months shedding the manatee skin and squeezing back into that suit? Not necessarily, but it’s all worth it in the end!”

Having been left on the sidelines to a certain extent in Iron Man 2, Black Widow really comes into her own in The Avengers, with several killer scenes keeping her at the heart of the action. If Marvel were to green light her own spin-off, perhaps in tandem with a Hawkeye storyline, we’d certainly think it worth a punt…

The Avengers opens in the UK on Thursday, with Iron Man 3 set to arrive on 3 May 2013.

New Iron Man TV spot for The Avengers: watch now

New Iron Man TV spot for The Avengers: watch now

The Avengers has released what we presume will be its final TV spot, with the focus falling squarely upon the shoulders of Tony Stark, better known in the Marvel universe as Iron Man.

The new spot shows us plenty of footage of Stark quipping and snarking his way through discussions with S.H.I.E.L.D. and his fellow team-mates, but there’s also a look at Iron Man in some extremely explosive action.

“Stark, show me something new,” challenges Captain America, before Iron Man rises to the challenge in spectacular style. “How about that?” he replies in perfect deadpan…

Check out the new spot, below…

Predictably, Iron Man is one of the chief beneficiaries of Joss Whedon’s whip-smart script, and Robert Downey Jr. is right back on form after his oddly subdued performance in Iron Man 2. You can check out our official Avengers review to read our thoughts on the film as a whole.

The Avengers assemble in UK cinemas tomorrow. The waiting is nearly at an end…

New Dark Shadows featurette: watch now

New Dark Shadows featurette: watch now

Dark Shadows has released an ace new featurette featuring behind-the-scenes interviews with Johnny Depp and Tim Burton as well as a host of new clips and snippets.

The featurette starts with a potted history of vampire movies, before moving on to why Burton and Depp wanted to dip their toes in an already well-worn genre.

There's also a look at some intriguing cameo performances that are set to crop up throughout the movie. If you don't want any surprises spoiled for you, it might be one to avoid.

Check out the new featurette below…

That cameo-tastic bar scene looks set to be a real treat, while the film as a whole seems to be striking a decent balance between bizarre and funny. Meanwhile, Depp and Burton seem genuinely enthusiastic about the subject matter, which can only bode well for the finished article.

Dark Shadows
opens in the UK on 11 May 2012.
