This Is 40, Judd Apatow's follow-up of sorts to Knocked Up, has revealed a first trailer online.
There's no Seth Rogen or Katherine Heigl this time round, as the plot revolves around Leslie Mann's Debbie and Paul Rudd's Pete, and their dalliance with middle age.
Debbie seems to be struggling as she approaches the big 4-0, while Pete's laid-back nonchalance looks to be tested once more.
From the impression this trailer creates, it seems like Apatow may have left the gross-out gags to one side to focus on gentler humour with notes of melancholia.
That's not to say there aren't any laughs (that final scene with a spread-eagled Rudd is a doozy), and there are a number of supporting actors that don't make the cut in this two-minute promo (Megan Fox, Albert Brooks, Chris O'Dowd, John Lithgow), so perhaps there will be a more raucous trailer somewhere down the line.
Naturally, Apatow's daughters Maude and Iris return as Debbie and Pete's kids.

This Is 40 opens in the UK on 21 December 2012.
