At just 15 years of age, Chloe Moretz has already enjoyed her fair share of controversial roles, from teenage bloodsucker in Let Me In to limb-severing potty mouth in Kick-Ass. However, she may have found her most "grown-up" role to date in Derick Martini's Hick.
Moretz plays Luli, a 13-year-old girl who runs away from her trailer park home in Nebraska in order to escape her mother's string of alcoholic boyfriends and set up a new life amid the bright lights of Las Vegas.
On her travels she comes across Blake Lively's kind-hearted grifter and Eddie Redmayne's menacing cowboy, and it isn't long before her coming of age story begins to take a sinister twist.
Take a look at the new trailer below…
Moretz appears to be that rare breed of child actor who has made the transition to the big league almost seamlessly. Luli looks a peach of a role for her, even if her troublingly sexual chemistry with Redmayne will likely cause another tabloid stir.
Adapted from the novel by Andrea Portes, with support coming from the likes of Alec Baldwin, Juliette Lewis and Rory Culkin, this one certainly looks as though it will be an interesting watch. Hick opens in the US on 11 May 2012, with a UK release date to be confirmed.
